The theming and idea is incredible, and having the party split up is really cool. I’m probably in the minority here, but I love this chapter. Not horrible but my least favorite.Ĭhapter 7. The dungeon is pretty good but the boss is boring. It’s so slow to get around, even with yoshi. I don’t even mind the general white quest too much, but I hate the moon. The area before it is alright, but nothing great.Ĭhapter 7. It’s a super unique area but it don’t like the dungeon at all. Still has a good story and villain compared to most other first chapters.Ĭhapter 2. It’s too similar to 64, and I prefer 64’s lead up to the dungeon much more.Ĭhapter 1. I love the dungeon, but the first half falls flat. I love most of it, but it does lack a lot of unique character interaction, which is justified as it’s a long lost palace of shadow, but I prefer the chapters with interesting characters and story the whole way through.Ĭhapter 5.

A great finale to this game with some awesome bosses and a unique theme. Doopliss is a great villain and the twist is so cool even though I know it now upon replays.Ĭhapter 8. If the world was designed a bit better, I would put it at number 1 no question. I love most of this chapter, but the backtracking knocks it down from the top spot.

Chapter 6 is a bit short and the boss is a bit random, but it’s probably my favorite is I have to pick one, but they’re extremely close.Ĭhapter 4. Chapter 3 is repetitive but it’s so unique and full of interesting characters. I tied these two because they’re both the pinnacle of the chapter based progression system and how it can be used to tell engaging stories that are self contained. Cool theming but the backtracking is horrible, and the train that you have to take makes it even worse.Ĭhapter 3 and 6. I don’t hate it but it is definitely the worst. I love the Koopa Bros and it’s a good introduction, but it’s still pretty standard.Ĭhapter 4. Chapter 2 is just a weaker chapter 5 for me, but I like the dungeon and town.Ĭhapter 1. A great finale too a great game, but still pretty standard for Mario.Ĭhapter 2. I really like the huff and puff boss too.Ĭhapter 8. I really like the theming as well, it’s pretty unique. The backtracking would be more severe if it was a straight line like some areas in TTYD, but since there is a centralized area, it’s not too bad. I’m one of those that actually likes this chapter. Just a solid, well paced story with some good exploration and puzzles.Ĭhapter 6. Tubba Blubba is a super memorable boss too.Ĭhapter 5. I love spooky areas in games, and I’m also one of those weirdos who likes dessert levels, so this chapter is right up my alley. It’s pretty standard plot wise but it’s just so well done that I can’t help but love itĬhapter 3.
